According to Icelandic website Pressan the Icelandic Startup OZ.com has received around $2.5 million to fund development of its high definition video on demand software. The software will soon be in beta testing in Iceland and offer people high definition video on IPhones, IPads, IPods and Apple TV.
OZ changed its name from Medizza last year. The companies’ MD Gudjon Mar Gudjonsson is a well known entrepreneur in Iceland after building up an earlier company called OZ in the years between 1990 and 2003. Spin offs from employees of the earlier OZ include computer games company CCP, airlines booking company DoHop and 3D animation studio Kaoz.
Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, founder and previous CEO of Opera software is among the companies’ investors.
